Lipstick Tag!

Hiya everyone! So I saw a post by the lovely Chanelle Hayley on her blog, I'll link it here https://chanellehayleyyy.wordpress.com/2015/02/23/the-lipstick-tag/ which inspired me to make this blog post.

Lipsticks and lip products are probably the makeup item I own the most of, I just can't resist trying out new ones!

(image coming soon)

How many lipsticks do you own?
OK, I'll be honest I have probably far too many lip products to count. Oops. I'd like to say about 18 - 25 lip products probably. Possibly more, I just can't count them all as they are all in different places!

What was the first lipstick you owned?
I can remember the first lipstick I owned was Beige Glace by Maybelline and my mum gave it to me about 7 years ago I think. I don't really use it anymore because it's probably past it by now!

What is your favourite lipstick brand?
I've never owned a MAC lipstick but I'm sure I'd love them, but my current favourite lipstick brand is Rimmel! I think they make amazing lipsticks in such a variation of shades and they are extremely long-lasting.

What is your most worn lipstick?
It's a really tricky choice, as I wear a lot of different ones, I'd probably say my most worn lipstick is my Sweet Pea Natural Collection lipstick as I've had it for quite a few years and it's quite natural so I tend to throw it on a lot, I also wear my Rimmel Pink Blush lipstick a lot! It's such a nice shade of pink!

What is your favourite finish?
I think I'd say satin as it's not too glossy or too matte and feels smooth on the lips.

What is the last lip product you bought?
The last lip product I bought was Fuchsia Flash by Maybelline, it was reduced and I felt like I had to get it after Mollie King tweeted me during a Q&A saying it was her favourite. I love the finish of it but I've not had the chance to wear it properly out yet!

How many lip products do you currently have in your handbag? (Including balms and glosses)
I emptied my bag literally yesterday, but I had in my Palmers Cocoa Butter Lip Balm, it's my favourite lip balm of all time and I use it pretty much most days! I also had my Fearne Colour Me In lip crayon (not sure which shade it is but it's a nice pink colour) and my Rimmel Lasting Finish Colour Rush lip crayon in Give Me a Cuddle, another pink! I also had my NO.7 Liplicious Moisturising balm in Marshmallow.

How do you store your lipsticks?
Just in my makeup bags with the rest of my stuff!

Which lipstick do you use to rock a red lip?
I use the Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 01, although I love using Rimmel's Lasting Finish Colour Rush Lip Crayon in On Fire as an alternative.

What lip product are you currently lusting over?
The Rimmel lipsticks! I love them! I also have an obsession with lip crayons at the moment, they are my thing at the moment! Slowly building a collection!!

I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post and be sure to check out Chanelle's post and her blog, the link is at the top of the page!
Feel free to do this tag yourself and link me, I'd love to see your answers!

Hidden Behind A Smile

Hi everyone!

Today's blog post is about just generally being a good friend and remembering that there's things you don't know about a person. Things they may not share, but it doesn't mean they're not happening.

Sometimes the people that smile the most or seem the most cheerful or upbeat can be suffering. Hiding behind a smile is something which so many people do (me included) and it's just important to be aware and remember that you just never know what is going on behind closed doors. Just because someone doesn't bring up things that are getting them down or express many sad feelings, doesn't mean they don't have them. They are more than likely bottling them up and in need of a good friend to have a massive vent to. And if you can be that vent pal then GO YOU :D

Sometimes you just need a good rant....! Mine and Emily's conversations often turn into a rant.... but it's often very therapeutic in talking to someone about any troubles you have!
And also Bradley puts up with a lot of my rants..... oops :') But like I said it's good to have a good friend who you know will listen and you can just talk to. It makes things better!

My advice would be to make sure you have regular heart to hearts, as it can really make your friendships stronger, as you can really make sure you reassure each other. Heart to hearts are generally good to get things out of your system and can assist both you and your friends to absorb different advice and opinions, as sometimes you just need a little bit of a refreshment in your mind.
Especially if you are someone like me who fails to take my own advice, sometimes you'll be more likely to follow it if it's someone else's advice.

Plus you can have a heart to heart maybe either in a coffee shop or a friend's house and get really comfy and have a hot chocolate and just make sure you guys are both relaxed. Telling me that doesn't sound appealing?!

If your friend does decide to speak about things to you, remain positive and give honest but kind-hearted advice.

Just remember anything can be hidden behind a smile, as fab as smiles are! Smiling is great but you just gotta remember it can sometimes be a mask!

If you have any other pieces of advice, feel free to comment them below!

Thank you very much for reading!

Positive Distractions

Hey everyone!

I'm not sure where to begin with this post but I was going to talk about "positive distractions" or if I use some of my media terminology "escaspism".

We all have our own escapisms and things that make us happy that distract us from the bustles of daily life.

I would definitely say mine are music, the internet and TV programmes, although mostly music and internet.

I feel as though I've been relying on these quite a lot as I've just not been having a good few weeks lately and I'm still pretty exhausted but I've definitely made up time for these things.

Music can have such a big effect on people, songs can just distract you and change your mood completely from what it was before and that is hugely beneficial to me.
The Internet also is a huge distraction and it has been for years, back when I used stardoll as a pre-teen to distract myself from being bullied. There's always been something on the Internet to distract me. YouTubers are also great to watch as they entertain me and provide escapism too. Some of my favourites at the moment are Zoella, Dan & Phil, Lilly Singh, Beautycrush and The Saccone Jolys.
I've been watching lots of Saccone Joly vlogs lately, I think they are amazing and so so adorable.

Another thing which used to distract me was my dog. She'd come over and I'd stroke her and everything would be okay.
It's been quite a horrendous few weeks for me and she was definitely a great distraction at first, but then she passed away, two weeks ago tomorrow, quite suddenly and uncomfortably for me and my family. I may follow up with a blog post on grief but it depends..
So it's all been a bit tough after that, especially without her cute little face to pop up and give me the puppy dog eyes, wanting whatever item of food I have.

Anyway, the point I'm making is that we all have our own escapisms and things we like doing and I think it's really important that you take some time out sometimes and just have some "me time" whether it's having a hot chocolate and watching YouTubers all day or going for a picnic or whatever you fancy, the positive distractions can be all the more helpful and beneficial for you.

I'm so sorry that this hasn't been as positive a post as usual, I'm just not feeling too great at the moment. Hopefully things will begin to look up soon!

Try Again

Hiya! So I was listening to one of my favourite songs "Try Again" by the beautiful Aaliyah and I was inspired to make a blog post.

"Cos if at first you don't succeed, you can dust it off and try again, dust yourself off and try again" - Aaliyah (Try Again)

This is one of the chorus lines of the song.
Although the song is mainly talking about relationships and dating, I figured that it could be used for everyday situations as well. The fact is, many of us sometimes forget to try again.

Unfortunately, anxious and past experiences can often cause issues for future events. It's something which even I have trouble with. But the most important thing to do is build your confidence slowly and gradually to enable you to have the comfort to do whatever it is you want to do. And often when you feel the timing is right you can do it.

For example, during 2013, there was a work experience opportunity for people who take the media studies subject. I was offered the opportunity to go but turned it down, as I was anxious about it and didn't feel comfortable. I did regret it and my mum repeatedly told me it would have been a good opportunity for me.
The next year, the same opportunity was offered. One of my friends from my class went and signed up and I picked up a form not 100% sure what I was doing. My mum was really eager for me to go and although I wanted to and signed up for it I still felt very anxious about the whole thing as I had literally no clue on what would happen and I like to feel a bit prepared in situations like that otherwise I feel a bit uneasy. We got a programme telling us what we'd be doing which did relax me a little bit, and although I was anxious in parts of the week, I do look back on it with happy memories and I was so happy with some of the opportunities given to me, for example a tour around our local BBC studios and St James's Park our local football ground and important insider tips for getting work in the media industry. It was something which I do believe was not only helpful for thinking of media careers, but it was enjoyable and interesting.
It just made me think about if I'd missed that opportunity if I hadn't decided to try again. Which is why I think it's so important to keep trying and keep going and get the most out of everything.

Giving up is not always the best option as it can lead to you feeling really negative and full of regret, and I'm sure we've all heard "it's better to have tried and failed to have not tried at all".

It is 100% okay to not feel ready to do things and therefore decide against them, don't feel pressure to "have to do things".
Just try and think to yourself that you can do it and you can do it in your own time. The key is building up your confidence to enable you to be able to do all sorts of amazing things!

I do really love the Aaliyah song and would definitely recommend it to any of you, but in particular lovers of old school R&B.

I will link the song here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zi_lhIaZOXI

I can't actually believe it's just turned 15 years old, it's such a great song and I love Aaliyah so much, may she rest in peace <3

Thank you to everybody reading!
