Let's Reflect: 2016

Hey everyone!!

I can't believe I'm sat here writing my Let's Reflect post for 2016, it doesn't feel like long ago since I did my 2015 post, however I feel like so much has happened since I wrote it.

I did not know what to expect from 2016 when it began as I still had no idea what I was planning to do later on in the year and it's fair to say it's been quite a busy one!!

One of the first things that was part of my year was the Strictly Come Dancing tour 2016. It's a show that even though being a long term fan of the show, I'd never seen. I really enjoyed the night and it was a great lineup which I think added to the experience. I loved how enthusiastic, Janette Manrara, one of my fave dancers was throughout the whole show, she made sure she waved and paid attention to the audience, which I thought was very sweet of her.

Another thing I managed this year was volunteering. I worked at a charity shop for quite a few months this year and it is something I miss now. I learned some good skills there, it was my first experience of any kind of work even being unpaid as it was charity work, it was great experience and an experience which I'll always remember. I still remember how proud I was of myself that day I did a card sale all on my own! I'm proud that I managed to do work there

I got to see Little Mix live for the first time this year, in April, even if I was in the middle of a busy row, which triggered my anxiety, and there being chaos over standing up, as arguments were breaking out during the songs which was a bit disheartening. I still found the show amazing despite it all though. The girls have incredible voices and amazing stage presences. It also made me fall in love for the song 'I Won't'.

I've actually been really obsessed with both Lemonade by Beyoncé and Dangerous Woman by Ariana Grande this year. Lemonade was an album which I'd been waiting for and was so impressed with while Ariana's was an album I probably hadn't considered before but was persuaded to by a friend and also I was intrigued by how good Gabbie (Velvetgh0st) was saying it was. So I gave it a listen and definitely don't regret it! There's some stunning tracks on there!

The summer also included me supporting Ricky Norwood when he entered the Celebrity Big Brother house and routing for him was a big part of August. He's been someone who I've loved the work of for years now and there was a lot of support for him! I have great memories of the summer through support showed for him.

Also in terms of my blog, I had my very first guest post during my (slightly failed) Blogmas serial, where guest blogger Chanelle Hayley wrote about Christmas makeup looks. Guest posts are definitely something I'll be open to more of in 2017.

The biggest part of 2016, is probably moving to Uni. I've moved an hour from home and into a new city, something I still can't believe and acknowledge that I've actually done. I know it sounds really stupid but sometimes when I'm walking to a lecture and catch a glance of the university name on the side of the building, it's like woah I'm ACTUALLY here! There's been a lot of ups and downs so far, there's been a lot of emotions. I've never really done anything so extravagant before and there's been a lot to get used to and many new situations and scenarios that I've not been in before as well as generally dealing with all of that WITH anxiety too, alongside it.
However if you remember my Let's Reflect 2015 from last year, you will remember that I actually couldn't even face the idea of going last year.
It's something which I am quite proud of myself for pushing on and doing, not sure how it happened but there we are! Sometimes my anxiety does creep up on me when I least expect it and try and knock my mood but generally I do try and focus on the things I have managed to achieve to try and overwrite the negative feelings. In terms of work, I handed in my first essay a couple of weeks ago. Let's just pray I did a good job of it!!

In terms of next year, I hope to manage to achieve a lot more during 2017, especially in terms of my anxiety. Despite 2016 having its difficult moments and moments where I questioned EVERYTHING, I'm very, very grateful for the little achievements and the memories I've made with loved ones this year. I've met loads of new people as well which has been lovely, and generally am grateful for that.

2016 hasn't been perfect but it's been pretty fab!

Thank you so much for reading this post and thank you for reading my other blog posts from throughout the year, it really means a lot especially if you have followed or commented too.

I hope that we all have a very happy and healthy 2017!

Love & hugs,

Claire xxx

Blogmas Day 24: Blogmas Did Not Go 100%

Hey everyone!!

So I do believe it's a given, that my Blogmas didn't go 100% the way I planned it this month!
I did lose track a little bit, with various uni deadlines and generally experiencing writer's block as well! I'm a little disappointed with it to be honest, especially as I know a lot of others completed brilliant Blogmas serials, so congratulations to you guys!! I honestly really wanted to complete Blogmas but this year was deffo a busy one for  me!!

I hope if you did read any of my Blogmas posts that you enjoyed them and a massive thankyou to Chanelle from Chanelle Hayley for guest posting for me! It was great to have a guest post!!

In terms of the New Year, I intend to try my best to really focus on my blog and make sure what I'm writing is what I want it to be and how I want it to look! I'm currently planning my posts so if there's anything you'd like me to do, please let me know!!

I hope that you all have an absolutely amazing Christmas and a fabulous New Year!

Love & hugs,
Claire xxx

Blogmas Day 20: My Favourite Red Lip Products

Hey everyone!

Welcome back to Blogmas, this is a selection of my favourite red lippies. It's definitely the season to whip out the red lipstick, as it's extremely bright, bold and of course festive!!

Rimmel 01
Rimmel's 01 was the first ever red I got, and it's probably the darkest of all these shades and probably the least expensive! Rimmel do some great lipsticks, and this one is no different with great staying power and a beautiful shade of red!

NYX Kitten Heels
The newest edition in my red lip collection, I decided following my matte lip obsession this year that I wanted a matte red lip to go with my collection. This is such a bold and beautiful red shade. I've been obsessed with this recently, it is such a great red! Also, it's perfect for if you are into the liquid lipstick trend of the moment!

Clinique's Cherry Pop
I raved a lot about this last year, it was a freebie in Glamour Magazine around Christmas but it's such a beautiful red shade! Probably the most expensive of the three I've mentioned but if you are a big lover of red lipsticks and want to invest in a real treat, this is definitely a good one for you!

Top To Bottom:
Cherry Pop, Kitten Heels, 01

Thank you so much for reading this blog post! Which are your favourite red lipsticks?

Blogmas Day 18: Strictly Come Dancing Final

Hey everyone!
Welcome back to Blogmas Day 18!

The Strictly series has now officially ended and the winner has been crowned!!

With Louise Redknapp & Kevin Clifton, Ore Oduba & Joanne Clifton, Danny Mac & Oti Mabuse all competing for the title of Strictly Winner 2016 and the Glitterball trophy, it was a real tight competition.

As it's the final, the other contestants were brought back for one last group dance, which definitely did not disappoint!

All three couples upped their game and fought as hard as they could, dancing 3 dances during the programme including their favourite dance, the judges' favourite and a showdance.

I personally really enjoyed Danny and Oti's performances, as Oti has definitely displayed incredible choreography skills.. (talking about that jump..!!) and has pushed Danny very far to excel in the show week on week! Ore has a real ability of class and Joanne has also done wonders with choreography throughout the series. Louise and Kevin have had fun weeks too, Kevin definitely has a lot of fun and always makes sure to include some traditional steps to benefit Len!!

So it was all in all a very good final in my opinion!!

The programme also had a special dedicated segment to head judge Len Goodman, who is due to depart the series. He will appear in the pre-recorded Christmas episode.

I'll have a post up talking about some of my favourite dances from the series!

Love & hugs,
Claire xxx

WHAT I DID: A pretty chilled day to be honest, being back home and all!! Also watched The Apprentice final!!

Blogmas Day 17: 5 Ways To Make The Most Of Christmas

Hey everyone!

I'd put together a list of 5 Ways to Make The Most of Christmas this year!! Read ahead..

* Put your phone down
Yes, wish your friends online a very Merry Christmas and maybe even post a little selfie, but make sure you aren't spending too much time on the phone and make sure you're living and enjoying life's surroundings as they are!

* Films
Christmas always has the best films on TV and even if there aren't any Christmas films that you've not seen, they are always playing loads of films around the festive season!! So you are sorted!!

* Board Games
I feel like board games are the perfect thing for Christmas get togethers, as you are with family and it can be extremely entertaining to see the enthusiasm and the attempts. Kerplunk, Operation, Monopoly anybody...??

* Take lots of photos
Christmas is a fun time of year and often a great time to get photos and memories with family you may not see very often!

* The Food
The food is always amazing at Christmas so don't be afraid to treat yourself that little bit more! It's

* Do it Your Way
I know I'm talking about good ways to make the most of Christmas, but all families have their own ways and traditions and that's what makes it that much more amazing!

Hope you're all doing well and have a lovely Christmas!

Love & hugs,
Claire xxxxxxxx

WHAT I DID: Returned home for Christmas!! Watched the Strictly Final which is always amazing but sad as I hate it when the series ends and there's the wait until next year's. Congratulations Ore Oduba and Joanne Clifton for winning the series!

Blogmas Day 16: Little Mix Glory Days Album Review

Hey everyone!

Welcome back to Blogmas Day 16!!

Today I thought I'd talk about one of the most anticipated albums of 2016, Little Mix's fourth studio album, Glory Days.

I was a huge, huge, fan of Get Weird, which meant I had a huge sense of anticipation for this album, amongst all of the other Mixers out there!

On first listen, I had a couple of favourites but following more listens, I found myself enjoying all of the album and I have to say it's a very solid, sassy album.

It's definitely a huge, huge, growth in comparison to their debut 'DNA' which was very bubblegum pop, innocent lyrics, this is so far from that. They have definitely grown up and their lyrics show that!

It's definitely edgier pop than what would be found on Get Weird, which is very intriguing for the fans, as you never know which exact direction they will be going in from album to album.

Their vocals are even more on point than ever, which I love a lot, they are all getting pretty much equal solos in this album too.

Album Highlights: Beep Beep, Power, Touch, No More Sad Songs, Freak, Oops

If you're looking for an album oozing with sass and empowerment, with edgy pop, this is the album for you!!

Have any of you listened to Glory Days? Let me know in the comments as I'd love to hear your favourite tracks!!

Love & hugs,

Claire xxx

What I Did: Last full day before going home for Christmas!! Went to my uni's Festive party!

Blogmas Day 15: Winter Pamper Products

Hey everyone!

Welcome back to this Blogmas post! This is focusing on Winter Pamper Products! We all need a little bit of a pamper around this season so read on to find my suggestions!!

*I'm still sorting out a new phone and a new camera so I apologise for the lack of photos*

Zoella Gingerbread Cream:
There's something about the smell of gingerbread at this time of year! Zoe's newest product release includes the smell of gingerbread which is so beautiful and literally as if you could eat it! The body cream is perfect for this time of year but there's also the handcream which has the same scent which is ideal for the season of dry hands because of the cold!!

Lush: Father Christmas Bath Bomb
There is no better season for a bath bomb than the Christmas season, as Lush have all of their amazing festive stock for this period! The Father Christmas one is the ultimate pamper product as it smells absolutely amazing and will definitely give you that boost you may need!

Lush: Snowfairy Shower Gel
Another product which comes round once a year, Lush's infamous Snowfairy! The perfect bubblegum/sweet scented treat for this time of year, there is no wonder it sells so fast!!

Thank you so much for reading this blog post!

What are your favourite Winter pamper products??

Love & hugs,
Claire xxxxxx

WHAT I DID: Recovering from the previous day of handing an essay in to be honest...!!! Also did present swapping with my flatmate!

Blogmas Day 14: Christmas Cards Yay or Nay?

Hey!!

Welcome to Blogmas Day 14!! (Apologies for the delay!)
I feel like this week has been so, so busy!! I am getting back on the Blogmas game now!!!

I thought I'd talk a little about Christmas cards today, as it's quite a festive tradition to send cards wishing Christmas joy to friends and relatives, but with the growing popularity of social media, I feel to a certain extent, that Christmas cards have died out a bit.

I feel like it's a shame as I personally still love both sending and receiving Christmas cards, I feel like there's just something about getting a card knowing that you're passing on your wishes to someone instead of just sending a message or text. I remember in primary school when you'd post your cards in the little postbox in the school office and they would deliver it before the end of the day, and you would have stacks as you'd always write out enough for the entire class plus others who weren't in your class that you knew! They'd then become Christmas decorations, hung around the house to display the festive love.

I feel like it's quite a shame that people don't write Christmas cards much anymore. I definitely feel like it's probably something to do with the actual posting of the card and generally the time it takes up to get the job done, but I really do feel like they should be brought back!!

Do you still send Christmas cards? Or do you feel like it's easier to just virtually send the Christmas wishes? Leave a comment and let us know!!

What I Did: ESSAY HAND IN DAY!! Both a good and bad thing...! Also still dealing with a bad throat which has been really not fun for me! Another thing I did was go for a meal and drinks with some friends, you can't beat a good pitcher (or two..!)

BLOGMAS DAY 13: 10 MUST HAVE CHRISTMAS PARTY TRACKS!

Hey!
Damn. It was going so well! I'm so sorry this is a bit of a late Blogmas Day 13.
The last 28 hours have been extremely busy!! But productive!!

This post is about 10 of my personal must haves for any Christmas themed gathering. I love Christmas music myself, but I feel like there's certain ones you just can't miss off a festive playlist!

* Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday
* Slade - Merry Christmas Everybody
* Shakin Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone
* Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You
* Chris Rea - Driving Home For Christmas
* John Lennon & Yoko - Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
* The Pogues ft Kirsty Maccoll - Fairytale of New York
* Elton John - Step Into Christmas
* Destiny's Child - Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
* Michael Buble - Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)

Some of these were chosen because they are absolute classics, whereas I chose Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer as it's a fun song which has been passed down for years, plus what party is complete without a bit of Beyoncé??

Also, you can't go wrong with a bit of Buble at this time of the year!! Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) is just so upbeat and fun.

Which are your Christmas songs you wouldn't miss off a Christmas party playlist?

Love & hugs,

Claire xxxxx

Blogmas 2016 Day 12: FESTIVE SPIRIT CHAT

Hey!

Welcome back to Blogmas Day 12!

Sorry that these posts are getting later, I'm actually really busy with uni work at the moment! Just 1 more week left before going home for Christmas, which I can't quite believe.
With being at uni during the festive season, it isn't the same decoration wise - literally not much space to put up tinsel or decorations which I'm missing out with to be honest!
I did put some tinsel around my pinboard but naturally, it fell down about an hour after I stuck it up.. sellotape never really did do much good.
One thing I'd like to know in the comments is how festive you are actually feeling right now? Now we're more than a week into December, has it been sinking in how close Christmas is?? Has your festive spirit kicked in really good now?

I always feel like December goes super fast! Sorry for a slightly shorter post today! As I said I've had a lot to do lately! Once this essay is out the way I can concentrate a bit more on other things!

WHAT I DID: My essay is due in 2 days.. eek... so naturally I've been editing that back and attending another lecture about another upcoming essay...! I'm feeling very busy this week, I just hope I can get everything done that I need to do!!

Blogmas 2016 Day 11: Guest Post By ChanelleHayley: Festive Makeup

Hey everyone!!

Welcome to Blogmas Day 11, here today we have a guest post from the wonderful Chanelle from ChanelleHayley. I'm very excited to have her here for her very first guest post on my blog for Blogmas, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did and that you have a visit to her blog which is linked throughout the post!
I'll hand over to Chanelle now...!

========================================================================
Hello lovely readers of Claire’s blog! When Claire first asked me if I wanted to guest post during December my immediate answer was yes! Claire is such a kind, thoughtful, loyal reader of my blog so I wanted to return the favour somehow.

For those of you who may not be aware of my blog, I post mainly about beauty and lifestyle but anything goes really! Today I wanted to stick to my beauty niche and share some festive makeup inspiration in case you’re not sure what to opt for this Christmas. I haven’t selected specific products, it’s more about the colour combinations. I hope you enjoy this post and be sure to visit MY BLOG if you like it!

Combination #1: Red lips and smokey eyes

This combination is a classic that will never go out of style! Red lips are especially appropriate at Christmas time and paired with a smokey eye, creates a timeless, well put together look. Often, I stick to the rule of making either my lips or my eyes the feature but you can choose to go all out with this look or just apply a light smoked effect.

Combination #2: Plum lips and gold eyes

I am hoping to wear this combination this year myself! Shimmery eyeshadows scream Christmas and remind me of the twinkling lights and glittering baubles. Gold eyes also work well with a red lip but I wore that combo last year and wanted to try something slightly different this year. I plan on wearing Sugar Plum by Revlon on my lips and using the gold shades in my Iconic 2 palette by Makeup Revolution and Maybelline’s ‘The Nudes.’

Combination #3: Nude lips and green eyes

For a more traditional Christmas colour green would look stunning on the eyes. Shimmery or matte green would work and paired with a nude lip would make the eyes pop even more. The best bit about wearing a nude lip is you won’t have to worry about how noticeable the colour wearing off throughout the day is, it’ll be easy to reapply.

Combination #4: Purple lips and silver eyes

This is probably the most ‘Chanelle’ combination out of all the ones mentioned here. I am fair skinned and purple is one of those colours that pops when I wear it. I have a couple of bright purple lipsticks and I love getting them out! The cool tones of the silver shadow will help tone down the look slightly and stop everything looking OTT. Silver also reminds me of winter and snow.

Thank you once again to Claire for letting me guest post and thank you for reading! Which festive look are you leaning towards this Christmas? Is it one of these or perhaps one of your own?

Chanelle xx

=============================================================================
Thank you so much Chanelle for taking part in my Blogmas!! Once again please check her blog out, here, her blog is one of my favourites to read!
What I Did: An actual attempt to be productive! I caught up on Strictly Semi Final last night, can't believe it is less than a week till I come home for Christmas! I also did more filming as part of my friend's film. She took a couple of polaroids of me.

Blogmas Day 10: Lush Snow Angel Bath Melt Review

Hey!!

It's Blogmas Day 10!
So I returned home for a weekend as it was just after my birthday, a few weeks ago, I decided to take advantage of my bath at home (which I miss hugely) and bought a few things from Lush!! One of these was the Snow Angel bath melt which I was drawn to because it smelled gorgeous and was sparkly! It's part of the Christmas range, so grab it while you can!! Basically the bath melt itself is a white shaped angel with golden glitter on the opposite side.

.Some of the last photos I managed to get prior to my camera breaking

It's a bath melt and it's super adorable! I'd actually never used a bath melt before, so I wasn't sure what to expect.

On the little packaging it mentions it is 'rich in moisturising cocoa butter, delicate marzipan scent, blend of rose benzoin and cassie."
I can definitely say it is really, really softening and makes your skin feel amazing after use!!
It's quite a hard scent to describe, but as you can see from the ingredients, it does have a bit of a marzipan scent to it, but even for someone who isn't the biggest fan of marzipan, I still love the scent! I'd also say it's quite floral scented too.

I came out feeling so so so so soft and moisturised. It does leave a bit of a gold glittery bath so you need to ensure you wipe up the glitter afterwards!

My favourite thing about the bath melt is how soft and smooth it made me feel afterwards. I've had dry skin lately and it completely nourished it and was so softening!

I'm deffo going to have to treat myself again to another when I come back for Christmas!!

Have you tried anything from the Lush Christmas range this year yet? Which are your favourites??

What I Did: I caught up on the Celeb Juice Christmas Special and still have my cold which is annoying!
Christmas Song Of The Day: John Lennon & Yoko - Happy Xmas (War Is Over)

Blogmas Day 8: Winterlicious Tag

Hi!

Today's Blogmas is the Winterlicious tag, which I'm not sure I've ever done before!

Favourite Winter nail polish?
Don't have a specific favourite at the moment but I'm liking dark purples and greys atm!!

Favourite Winter lip product?
This year I'm loving NYX's Transylvania. It's such a wintery shade and something I've never really worn before so I'm really loving it!

Most worn Winter clothing piece?
I feel like I've worn a lot of sweaters this year and hoodies. A lot of my jumpers are back home!! I love my dressing gown, I slip it on all the time when I'm in my uni room, it's just so comfy!!

Most worn Winter accessory?
There's an adorable little hat I've got my eye on in New Look but I'm not a huge hat wearer cos my hair gets really bad after I wear a hat!

Favourite winter scent/candle?
At the moment I'm loving Zoella's Sweet Inspirations range for the winter, I feel like it's quite a wintery cosy scent! I'm also loving gingerbread and cherry scents! They are so Christmassy!

Favourite winter beverage?
I'm loving the Costa Christmas drinks at the moment, you can't beat a good hot chocolate! But the honeycomb latte is so beautiful!

All time favourite Christmas/holiday movie?
I can't really choose one specific favourite, but I love watching The Snowman as it makes me feel so nostalgic. I love Arthur Christmas too, it's such a cute film!

Favourite Christmas/holiday song?
I love loads of Christmas songs, Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday and Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone are classics, but there's so many I love to be honest. My Christmas playlist is always on at this time of year!

Favourite Christmas/holiday food/treat?
Home made mince pies are always the best! I'm at uni at the moment so I'm away from home cooking so I think they will taste better this year!

What is your favourite Christmas decoration this year?
As I'm away from home, I've not really got all the decorations up. I love seeing all the sparkly lights in the town centre though!

What's at the top of your wish list?
Well I need a new camera so that's probably one of the things I'll be trying to get!

What are your plans for the holidays this year?
To catch up with all the people I love that I'm away from at uni! And chill.

I tag everyone who would like to do it for Blogmas! Make sure you send me your links so I can read your responses!

WHAT I DID: Disappointed because my cold has come back and I thought it had gone!!
Christmas Song Of The Day: (In memory of Greg Lake) Greg Lake - I Believe In Father Christmas
Advent Calendar Chocolate Of The Day: I think it was a robin.... but I'm not 100% sure hahaha!!

This post is all about my Top 5 Lush Products I want to try this Christmas!!

* Golden Wonder
This one is the big gold coloured gift bath bomb, with orange and lime oil it smells just as good as it looks! It's one I am so tempted to try this Christmas season!

* Peeping Santa
This bubble bar smells of strawberry, which is one of my favourite fruits and therefore takes its place as one of my favourite scents. The Peeping Santa always catches my eye as it looks adorable and very cute! It's one I have to try this year!

* Northern Lights
I've heard loads of good things about this bath bomb and I want to see what it does. It sounds like it gives your bath a real performance of colour, so that would be very interesting to see!

* Snow fairy Shower Gel
I've actually never tried Snow fairy before, however my flatmate bought me a bottle of it for my birthday so I'll let you know how much I love it later on. It smells very sweet and candy-like!

* Father Christmas
Technically, I did try this bath bomb last year, but I loved it so much I'll definitely be trying it again this festive season! It's so adorable and smells absolutely amazing, similar to the Snow Fairy scent yet absolutely beautiful.

What I Did: Did a bit more Christmas shopping, which was definitely needed! I also ended up watching Arthur Christmas which is one of my favourite films! I also re-discovered Limp Bizkit's song Behind Blue Eyes which I've not heard for years!

Blogmas Day 6: Creative Gift Ideas

Hey everyone!
Welcome to Blogmas Day 6!

Today's post is all about creative gift ideas which you could potentially use for someone in your life!

* Personalise a phone case
Just about everyone uses a phone case am I right?? You could buy a plain phone case from somewhere such as Amazon or Ebay and customise it! Think stickers, glitter, whatever your recipient is into, try and in cooperate it into your design!!

* Treasure box
What could be more creative and fun than finding a cute little box (TK-Maxx have a nice range) and filling it with little gifts that they love, for example, chocolates, nail polish, hair accessories, maybe even a little bottle of perfume if it fits!!

* Foodies
If you have a friend who's particularly Christmas friendly, why not bake them Christmas themed goodies?? Gingerbread men to be decorated like them and their favourite people, trifle... go all out!!

* Organise a trip somewhere
If you have a friend who loves travelling around, why not organise a little weekend away somewhere or a day trip? Not only is it an incredibly creative but you can make more memories from it too!! Bonus!!

* Photo themed gifts
For a cute personalised gift, you could head over to Boots as they have a range of photo themed gifts from cushions, mugs, calendars, which look amazing and are super easy to order!!

Blogmas Day 5: The Christmas Tag

Hey!

I saw a different Christmas Tag which I'm not sure I've ever completed before which I thought I'd have a go at competing!!

1. Do you stay in PJs or dress up for Christmas?
I always enjoy getting properly dressed up for Christmas! I feel like Boxing Day and Christmas Eve are the PJ days!!

2. If you could only buy one person a Christmas present this year, who would it be?
Oh god, that is such a bad question for me. I don't think I could do that!

3. Do you open your presents Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Christmas morning! Quite early on when I was younger but now I'm a little more reluctant to leave my bed haha!!!

4. Have you ever built a Gingerbread house?
No, but I'd love to!!

5. What do you like to do on your Christmas break?
See all of my friends that I've not seen for ages, chill out, watch loads of Christmas films and listen to loads of music, catch up on TV!!

6. What's your favourite holiday movie?
I love The Snowman, as it's such a classic and I love watching it every single year! I also really love Arthur Christmas! It's such a cute little film!! And Nativity!!

7. Candy canes or Gingerbread men?
Gingerbread men!! I love them so much! Candy canes are nice though!!

8. Have you ever made a snowman?
Ooh yes I've made many!! One particular one which I think was in Winter 2010, which was a very cold winter, stayed for ages!! It was so funny, it would just be standing there morning after morning!

9. Which do you like better Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
Ooooooooh, that's a tricky one. I love Christmas Eve but obviously Christmas Day is really exciting. I think I love them both equally!

10. White lights or coloured lights?
Deffo coloured lights!! Although white looks nice and classy, I like to have variety!

WHAT I DID TODAY: Well I had a lecture and we watched Donnie Darko which is not a film I've watched before. Also now beginning to get aching pains and literally praying it isn't a cold or bug coming on!!

Blogmas Day 4: November 2016 Favourites

Hi everyone!

It's Day 4 of Blogmas! And here we have my November Favourites! I feel like I didn't have many favourites last month but this month is packed quite largely with things I've been loving! Hope you enjoy having a little insight into my favourites from this last month! Let's get into it...

Zoella (Sweet Inspirations)
I've been obsessed with Zoella's Sweet Inspirations scent this month. I bought the Double Crème Body Cream back in July, but was more into fruity scents at that point, which meant I didn't use it as much as I would have liked. I do have good memories of the summer though so I'm not sure if getting obsessed with the scent now is because I'm appreciating the summer memories or if I feel like it's more of a winter scent? Either way, I bought the Shower Milk too and that smells just as good!!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - Transylvania
I've wanted to try Transylvania for a while now and after seeing how much I loved Stockholm, I decided to buy it. I love it so much, the colour is very wintery and autumnal but manages to stay well without being too patchy, it smells amazing and lasts a long time!! I'm so happy I bought it!

Lush - Snow Angel Bath Melt
I went back home for my birthday and knew I really wanted to take some Lush products back with me as I'd get to use a bath (my uni accommodation doesn't have one). I chose this randomly and was so, so impressed with it. It made my skin feel so smooth and soft, which I totally wasn't expecting and it smells absolutely gorgeous! I will definitely be taking another back when I go home for Christmas!!

Lady Leshurr - Queen's Speech 6
If you've been reading my blog for a while, you probably know that every time Lady Leshurr drops a new Queen's Speech, I'm the first there. She won Best Female at the MOBOs last month and I was so happy for her, she's an incredible freestyler, so clever with her lyrics and so much personality. And extremely underrated so it was great to see her win an award! Another killer beat for this, with a Halloween themed video to match the Halloween style of the lyrics.

Hilary Duff - With Love
I'm not sure where this popped up from, but I used to love this song when I was younger and seemingly became a song of choice that I listened to a lot this month. I have a lot of love for Hilary Duff and this song is so easy to listen to.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9xhJxyie5g

Gipsy Kings - Bamboleo
I blame Laura Whitmore and Giovanni Pernice's Samba for this one. It's been stuck in my head for a lot of the time. I was disappointed when Laura left as I think she's a great lass with a fab personality and I wanted to see her do more dances.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCq3CMbqYNo

Shakedown - At Night
I've actually loved this song for years but could not remember the name of it. I did previously know it but it went right out of my head. I stumbled across the name of it accidentally and knew it was what I'd been looking for. Therefore this song has been listened to a lot this month!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqez8FdzJO0

Little Mix - Beep Beep, TouchNo More Sad Songs, Private Show, Power
I got Little Mix's new album for my birthday and despite me realising early on I preferred Get Weird, I have a feeling this album will be a massive grower and could potentially overtake it. I've enjoyed a lot of the songs, even ones that didn't hit me as soon as I heard them. Beep Beep was one of my immediate favourites from first listen. Touch is a song I can see as a single. It's extremely catchy. No More Sad Songs is a soft yet upbeat track which I've been loving.
Private Show and Power are both extremely sassy and even though Power didn't hit me on first listen, it's recently become one of my most played tracks from the album.

Costa
I've been genuinely obsessed with trying Costa's Christmas menu! I tried the Starbucks Pumpkin Latte but sadly my current local Starbucks ran out! So I've began trying the Costa drinks and I'm obsessed with the honeycomb latte! It is SO GOOD!! The marshmallow hot chocolate is also a favourite, the glittery little marshmallows inside are so cute! Also the designs of the Christmas cups are adorable and I love them!! I've been on quite a few Costa trips after my lectures recently and I have no regrets.

WHAT I DID: Sorted out more posts for Blogmas and caught up on Strictly, after missing it last night due to attending a little 'International Night' house party. I finally got to play Cards Against Humanity, after seeing so many YouTubers playing it and thinking it looked fun! We also played Articulate, which was a bit of a struggle for me hahaha!!

Blogmas Day 3: Glitter Is Life

Hey everyone!

Welcome To Blogmas Day 3!!

So I know for some people glitter is a massive no-no, but I think during the festive season, it's a lot easier to get away with wearing that little bit of sparkle and not feeling like you've overdone it or are a little overdressed! Here are various ways to incooperate a little sparkle into your life!!

* Highlighter - highlighter gives you that gorgeous sparkly glow, at the moment I'm using Maybelline's Master Strobing Stick in the shade Light-Iridescent. It's a great way to add a little shimmer to your face!

* Glitter nails - Glitter nails are so in right now!! Rimmel have a gorgeous range of sparkly nail polishes as well as glitter topcoats if you don't fancy trying a new particular shade! Experiment by adding glitter on top of one of your current nail polishes, I can guarantee you it's more exciting!!

* Shimmery lips - For shimmery lips I'm using Zoella's Gingerbread Scented gold shimmer lip balm from her Lip Balm Duo set from Superdrug. You can wear it alone for a sheen, or pop it over a lip colour of your choice to set a little sparkle on your lips! Plus it's gingerbread scented which makes it even more loveable!!

* Sequinned tops - Sequinned tops are not always too sparkly and can be a perfect way to combine a little bit of Christmas shine into an outfit without going all out.

* Just go for the Jewellery - If you really aren't feeling typical glittery accessories, it's definitely time to dig out the necklaces, silver, gold, whichever, can both extremely accentuate an outfit!!

WHAT I DID: Finally I ordered the Secret Scenta Zoella Christmas set from the Superdrug website which I was actually supposed to get for my birthday but we couldn't find it in the shops! I think the set looks great because they include all 4 perfumes in mini size! I've only tried Blissful Mistful so far but I love the scents of the other 3!
Christmas Song of the Day: Faith Hill - Where Are You, Christmas?

Blogmas Day 2: Make A Positive Difference This Christmas

Hey everyone!!

So it's second day of Blogmas!!

I feel like Christmas is such a jolly time of year but for some people it isn't. For some people it can be a lot more difficult, whether that be because they don't have a place to live, or money or even family.
As I love Christmas a lot myself, I feel like I have a lot of festive energy which I try and pass off for others. It doesn't always go as well with some people but it's still there regardless.
I feel like this Christmas we should all try and do as much as we can to make other people happy. Make a difference to someone else's life, whether it be something small or big, I feel like it's the perfect time to spread joy and happiness.

Don't stop at the people you love, see if you can do something for a stranger too! Donate to a charity, take part in a Christmas shoe box, there's loads of ways you can give back to those in need.

Basically, I feel like this is the perfect season to give as much love out as you can, and generally spread as much joy and positivity to others as you can, with the Christmas spirit! Cos that is what it's about right??

Christmas is definitely a great time to show that you care and show how much the people around you matter, of course you should do that all year round, but with this season of giving, why not take the time to do it?

WHAT I DID:
Well there was a fire alarm in our lecture today, we all had to pile outside, we had no idea where we were going but it wasn't for long!! Also had a little study session afternoon with my flatmate which resulted in me finallyyyyy finishing my first ever uni essay!! Not sure how I feel about it as it's my first one, but yeah!! Apparently we're watching Finding Dory later, which I've not actually seen yet, so that shall be interesting!!

Blogmas 2016 Day 1: Introduction To Blogmas

Hiya everyone!

Can you believe it's December?? I certainly can't!! It's absolutely crazy that we are so close to the end of 2016, when it genuinely only feels like yesterday it began!!

Last year I took part in BlogTober, which meant I blogged every single day in October, which meant I was still adapting when it came to Blogmas last year so I didn't feel like I was prepared to start it. However, I deliberately made sure I would be able to take part in Blogmas this year, this being a bit of a weird one for me as it's the first time I've spent a lot of the build up away from home! I was actually supposed to go home and put up my Christmas tree earlier this week but unfortunately I had to wait for plumbers to come fix my toilet.. so I couldn't go. It's a shame I won't be putting up a tree myself this year, unless I get a mini one for my uni room but yeah! I'm really excited to get started with Blogmas posts and see where it takes me!! I am also really excited to see all of the Vlogmas videos which will be coming to YouTube soon!! I love watching Zoe's, because she's so festive like me, I find the excitement so infectious!!

As this is my first ever Blogmas, I hope that you guys will check out what I write!
I've decided, whichever blog post I do, to add a brief summary of my day to my post too. I thought that might be quite interesting as I've never done that before.
Also I'm intending to feature some guest blog posts so do let me know if you would like to do a guest Blogmas post, there are spaces free!!

WHAT I DID TODAY: I got up for my lecture but literally was only in there for about 10 minutes as he just wanted to chat to us individually about how our essays are going etc, then we could go afterwards. Essay-wise I'm about 500 words off the minimum word limit, so not too bad!!
Actually wasn't hungover despite feeling effects later last night of the vodka & coke, pornstar martini and blue lagoon I consumed.

Thank you so much for reading this post and hope you have enjoyed Day 1 of Blogmas!!

Creightons Frizz No More Sleek & Shine Miracle Serum Review

Hey everyone!

Today's blog post is about a miracle serum which has saved my life over the past couple of weeks. I noticed my hair was suffering with frizz because the new hair dryer I'm using at uni seems to be a lot more powerful and I felt like I wanted some way to combat against the frizz. Obviously I could have just got a heat protectant but I felt that as my hair is very thick and gets quite frizzy generally, a frizz product would be my better option.

I'd like to apologise for the picture quality, as I have limited/no storage on my phone at the moment and my camera actually broke today, so yeah... that's annoying!

This is where Creightons Frizz No More Sleek and Shine Miracle Serum comes into action! I bought this spray bottle in my local Savers meaning it was ridiculously cheap and it's done me well!

You simply spray a little bit into your hand, and rub it into your hair either wet or dry, but as I'll mention later I feel it is better to do it when the hair is wet.
It contains argon oil which makes your hair feel conditioned and probably one of the reasons why it feels really soft afterwards!!

It makes my hair feel so much softer and fluffier than usual which can also be handy as my hair gets extremely knotty too, I've noticed a difference in the amount of knots I get after using this.
One thing I will say is that you have to be careful with your application as sometimes I've found it does all stick at one part of my hair and make it look a little greasy, so it's best to apply it when the hair is wet. It smells really good too, it's a hard scent to describe but it's really nice!!

I feel like it does a really good job for my hair and am really glad I tried it out!

I suggest that any of you with frizz-prone thick hair to try this and see what you think!!

The Powerful Mind Of Anxiety & The Amygdala

Hey!

So at pretty much the very start of university, I bought a book titled How To Master Anxiety by Joe Griffin and Ivan Tyrrell, I was still quite mixed up and wanted to have a book with me which would literally be to hand and offer me advice and as I've never actually sat down and read a book regarding mental health and anxiety. The closest book I've ever read to any kind of self-help book is Demi Lovato's Staying Strong 365 Days, which one of my best friends gave me as a present just under 2 years ago. I was in Waterstones and there were some other interesting looking books looking into anxiety but determined not to spend too much money, I went for How To Master Anxiety.

I've not properly read every single chapter yet, but there was one chapter which really seemed to click with me and made me understand a bit better some of the little itty struggles I may have.

It is all about the powerfulness of the amygdala, a little part of the brain which is an emotional part of the brain. It stores information from our unconscious thoughts and remembers them, meaning that experiences or anything to do with those experiences are stored. So if any part of the experience is suddenly remembered or triggered or matches a situation you've been in before, it sets you off feeling anxious.

This is definitely something which applies to me which is extremely annoying as personally for me, my amygdala manages to remember even the littlest of things, even stuff like what I'm wearing or what I've eaten and I've got to remind myself that certain things are not the cause of my anxiety and should not worth getting so stressed over. Sometimes I do find myself avoiding certain clothes or even makeup items because my amygdala has stored them as being part of a stressful scenario (even when they had nothing to do with it) Also means sometimes I'll avoid wearing some of my favourite stuff just in case I trigger something and then my amygdala does remember it for the wrong reason.
For others it could be particular routes or places which their minds might have registered, I always remember Zoe aka Zoella mentioning in her Anxiety video that she used to have panic attacks in Paddington train station, because one time she had one and they kept recurring and returning.
It's incredible that the mind is so powerful and clever to manage to remember all of these things however it is also incredibly annoying too if it is causing you uncomfortable and unwanted thoughts!

I'm not sure if any of this is making sense but it may if you are suffering.

It's something that I'm still working on and trying to improve with myself as I really wish to be able to live a more free and funfilled life, without having annoying little thoughts taking up space and taking the joy out of everything! It's constantly an aim of mine to just work past everything. I wish to be able to do what I want without my amygdala failing me and making me question and second guess what I want/should do.

Dealing with thoughts like this is something you have to do at your own pace, do what you feel comfortable, aim to push yourself but don't aim to push yourself too far too fast. I've dealt with a bad case of unwanted thoughts before which I've not really talked about on here yet but I feel like if you try and read loads of positive words or quotes to try and overbalance the negative ones, it could have an effect. For example, maybe write a list of all of the little achievements you've managed and maybe do a little pinboard of quotes or pictures which remind you of the achievements. I find that following quote pages on Instagram is a great way to start the day with a mindful quote in your brain which can give you a lease of life for the start of the day.

Some I'd recommend are:

I'd love to hear any comments you may have!
I hope you're well doing really well!

October 2016 Favourites

Hiya everyone!

October Favourites time!! I've not had a lot of beauty favourites this month as I've had to leave a lot of my stuff at home as I couldn't take it all to uni and I've also not been trying out as many products either because I've actually just not been as into makeup recently, sadly, I'm not sure why!! I've been so tired I've just not had the time to do it. I've definitely been more into buying clothes lately, which means I've managed to go almost 2 months without buying any makeup which is a record for me!! Anyways let's get on with the Favourites!!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
This has been an absolute life saviour over the last month, my skin hasn't been its best, probably because of the change of starting university and possibly not eating as healthily as I was at home. It's served me well through breakouts as well as covering up my tired undereye circles too. I know a lot of bloggers rave about this concealer and it's certainly an extremely great bargain!
I also had a little look at my October Favourites for last year and it was in there too!

Lady GaGa - Perfect Illusion
I first heard this in September and it has grown on me in recent weeks, the second half of the song is my favourite part, the key change just makes it come alive even more! I still love GaGa, and have done since her first album and am intrigued to hear Joanne, her newly released album to see what direction she has decided to take this album into.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oB94lvJbETE

Vanessa White ft Illa J - Low Key
I think I've already mentioned how much love I have for Vanessa and her solo material as well as The Saturdays music, and this new track from her 'Low Key' is hitting my R&B soul hard.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuZTBqfTTBE

Jennifer Lopez - So GoodYou all know how much I love Jennifer Lopez, and this song is taken from her A.K.A album, I found myself listening to this track a lot during October.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaGVizQ9KDs

Groove Armada ft Mutya Buena - Song 4 Mutya (Out Of Control)This reminds me of Summer 2007, but still a really catchy little track which got stuck in my head throughout the month!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnvxN62WtBY

Beyoncé - HauntedNot sure whether it's because Halloween happened this month but I was listening to Haunted, a track from Beyoncé's self titled album released in 2013.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4r4lysSgLE

Little Mix - Shout Out To My ExThe Little Mix lasses are back again with another new era which looks set to be one of their most exciting yet! Shout Out To My Ex was definitely a grower for me but as I am a massive LM fan it didn't take long!! I love the video and Perrie especially looks absolutely beautiful. Also yay for it being number one for the third week running!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFDzhKdrN9M

Duran Duran - Hungry Like The WolfAnother slightly themed Halloween track for October, I've been enjoying this through the month too. Brings back memories of Kimberley Walsh and Pasha Kovalev's Paso Doble which was danced to this back in 2012.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxW0n5Fe5CY

Strictly Come Dancing
It was only a matter of time before Strictly entered my Favourites again. I've been enjoying this series as usual however I am gutted that professionals Janette Manrara and Pasha Kovalev are out so early. Also I strongly feel that Tameka should not have gone so early, she had more to give! Although in terms of their dance off, Laura should not have gone either. They simply both should not have both been there. However saying that, I've loved watching the new routines and the new dance partnerships grow. Halloween week happened last week and that is always so much fun! The costumes and the makeup are always incredible!

Thank you so much for reading and let me know what your Favourites of the month have been!!

Love & hugs,

My Name My Questions Tag

Hiya!

Today's blog post is actually a tag which I'm not even sure if it already exists or whether I've created something here? Basically, I thought that you could use either your name or your blog name and answer questions from each letter of it. For example I'm using ECLAIRSCARES so it goes like this:

E - The last eye product you bought? Collection's Fast Stroke eyeliner, to replace my old stale one!
C - Favourite colour?  Purple!!
L - Last Lush product you used? Think Pink bath bomb, it smells gorgeous and turns the water pink!
A - Age you were when you first started wearing makeup? I started wearing mascara around 12/13.
I - If you were on a desert island and could only listen to 5 artists for the rest of your life, who would they be? Atm Beyoncé, The Saturdays, Little Mix, Aaliyah and maybe Jason Derulo.
R - Last person to ring you was..? My parents, a couple of days ago.
S - Favourite shower gel? Atm I'm obsessed with Zoella's Foam Sweet Foam & Sweet Inspirations Bath Latte

C - Item of clothing you are loving atm? A brown turtle neck top from New Look, it is so cute!
A - Last thing you ate? Raspberry muffin!
R - Favourite Rimmel product? Atm it is my Match Perfection foundation but I love 07 lipstick too!
E - Name an eyeshadow you love to use? Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Crème de Nude.
S - The last shampoo I used was? Probably my Timotei Pure.

I'd love to see you do this tag, comment below if you have done it and I'll give it a read!
Also I'd love to read your blog posts!

The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Wash Review

Hey everyone!!

Today's blog is all about a product from a shop which I really love but actually seemingly, seem to rarely actually buy from. I'm always in and out of The Body Shop, checking out the body butters and the shower gels and the makeup but I actually don't buy from there very much, which I think I may have to change as I've read a lot of positive reviews of various beauty items from there!!

The Japanese Cherry Blossom body wash was given to me by a friend last year and it's probably not a scent I'd reach for immediately, I'm drawn to other scents, however upon using this, I did fall in love!
It's a really flowery yet fresh scent which I can definitely say is unique in my personal collection of shower products as like I said I don't tend to reach for them!

It may only be a mini container but you can definitely get quite a few washes from it. It smells beautifully floral and fresh and stays after your shower too, as I've found some shower gel scents fade from your body literally as soon as you leave, but this one lingers and leaves you feeling extremely fresh and clean.

Another thing I love is that it lathers up really well and really easily and you don't need a lot of product to get what you need for your shower. I think it's great!

Definitely has made me reconsider branching out to try flowery scents!

Which are your favourite Body Shop shower products? Let me know!!

Love & hugs,

The Fall Tag

Hey!

So as it's now October, (I know I can't believe it either) it means for the UK that Autumn/fall has crept in and is now here. As I don't remember doing this tag, I decided to complete the Fall Tag today.

Favourite fall colour?
Usually it's dark purples and berry tones which is my usual favourite, but this year I've been quite into experimenting with new shades. I bought a gingerbread brown coloured top from New Look the other week and it's not quite like anything I own.

What is your favourite fall lip product?
This year I'm quite excited about using MAC's Rebel, as it's a berry tone but it's buildable so it doesn't have to be 'in your face' bold. I also bought NYX's Transylvania which is going to be an interesting one to use!

What is your favourite fall accessory?
I got really into scarves the past couple of years so probably scarves. They can look really chic and cute and are obviously great for the cold weather! I have a cream coloured snood which I love bringing out at this time of year!

What is your favourite fall nail polish?
I'm not sure I have one at the moment, but I'm keen to try greys and maybe a very dark berry/purple shade.

What is your favourite thing about fall?
I generally love autumn because Strictly starts, Apprentice, I'm A Celebrity and X Factor come back, its the build up to Chistmas and my birthday is in November so it's generally a really nice few months!

What are you being for Halloween?
I don't know yet!

What is your favourite fall hairstyle?
I don't really have a particular fall hairstyle that I just wear during that time of year, but I do love adding little mini scarves or bandanas, it can look really fun.

Please complete this tag if you fancy it! Let me know your favourite things about Fall/Autumn!!
Thank you so much for reading!

Go At Your Own Pace

Hey everyone!

This post is highlighting reasons as to why taking things slowly and taking things at your own pace is important and beneficial. These days, the world is so quick and busy and there's so much going on and it can be overwhelming. Not everything is going to go perfectly or go the way you want it to go, sometimes you may feel unable to do certain things on certain days. You may wake up with a bad mental health day or not feel your best and that is completely normal. There's a difference between something you genuinely aren't ready to do and something which is possible to do which just needs more confidence and motivation to push yourself through.

My anxiety means that some days I can't face doing certain things, whatever they may be, sometimes even stupid, little ridiculous to some sounding things can be hard or a trigger, a lot of the time I'll push on and go for it to try and get myself through them anyway, but sometimes you just kind of know that you really aren't able to do that thing today, whatever that may be. It can feel like it's holding me back which isn't the way I want to live my life, I feel like 100% most days I'm pushing on and trying to get positive vibes to keep myself in a good mind state. Chatting to others who understand this is a great way to get yourself a quick fix of vibes as they get you and they get your struggles and if you don't see how far you've come, then they sure can notice it and help you.

Basically, the message I think needs to be conveyed is that it's okay to go at your own pace. Allow yourself to settle. Often people suffering with hidden conditions are actually working themselves 10 times harder anyways, trying to process and evaluate situations to ensure they can get through it. Therefore tiring themselves out harder and using more energy.
Sometimes it's easy to feel others can move at faster paces and can accomplish things faster than perhaps you might. It's easy to get caught up and feel as though you aren't good enough or aren't smart or strong enough when the actual truth is you are smart and you are strong enough, it just takes a little more settling to go before you're ready. That is completely okay and it should be made aware of and there should be more understanding that not everyone works at the same pace. Being comfortable is hugely important and although you do want to keep pushing yourself out of your comfort zone when you can.

Although for a lot of people suffering with a hidden condition or a mental illness, the littler things can be out of your comfort zone than what others may feel are their comfort zone. That's also okay, we're all different and none of us chose to experience or live life this way, you just have to be patient with yourself and have the knowledge that you are allowed to go at your own pace and have a good support ground for those situations. I would like to think that friends and family even colleagues or staff members would respect this, because sometimes it isn't easy to say that you need to go a little slower or need more time than others, as you don't want to appear "stupid" or irritating or feel like you're a burden or letting anyone down, we shouldn't have to feel like this, nobody should feel like that way. Not everyone can get things right first time.

If you are struggling, please don't feel like you aren't strong or that you aren't capable of doing anything, you are incredible and I believe in you. There has been many little instances in your life where you have accomplished little milestones or little things you managed to do even when you didn't think you could do it. You are strong!

I'd love to hear any feedback from this post, so do comment below if you have any thoughts or any suggestions of help for anyone who may be struggling with things like this.

Love & hugs,
